Setup
20 races
All predictions must be submitted at least 1 hour
before race time!
If your
predictions are not delivered on time because of your Internet Email Provider
you will take the fall and lose out. To be safe you can email your predictions
from two different email accounts (ie. Yahoo, Gmail,
Hotmail). Also be sure to check the website 1 hour before race time. If you
notice your picks are not there then quickly send an email to ask management.
Please be a responsible and active participant.
If you
submit your picks and decide you want to change them around later you may do
so. As long as it is at least 1 hour before race time.
-
Please submit picks in this format:

No numbers. Just
names with proper capitalization.
Failure to follow these instructions will result in -1 point for every
incorrect spelling mistake on a single full name at the end of the deadline.
-
Newcomers may join the Formula 1 pool anytime during the season.
Max number of participants is 24 since there are only 12 teams and 2 drivers
per team.
If there are more than 2 participants who want to join they will be placed on a
waiting list until next season and they will take the place of whoever finishes
in the last few positions from the previous season.
-
Waiting list
If there are more than 24 participants who want to join they will be placed on
a waiting list.
The newcomers will be placed on top of the waiting list in that order they have
expressed their desire to join the pool. After them are placed the dropped (but
not disqualified) participants from previous season in that order they were
placed in previous season rankings. The disqualified participants will be
placed in the bottom of the waiting list according to their performance in
previous F1 pools.
If a participant is disqualified or wants to quit during the season, he/she
will be replaced by a member of this waiting list in the order that is stated
above (1. newcomers, 2. dropped participants and 3. disqualified participants)
In the beginning of a new season every member in waiting list gets a place in
the F1 pool and the same amount of previous season participants will be dropped
to the waiting list. However TOP 12 from previous season will remain in the
pool.
If there are more than 12 people in the waiting list before new season new
rules will be developed.
-
Legend:
DC = Drivers Champion, CC = Constructors Champion
© = Captain, ® = Rookie, NC= Newcomer, WL = Waiting List
DSQ = Disqualified, RET = Retired
UNA = Unable
- For those who are deceased or injured for races. Bless you all.
-
Penalties
· Participants who get disqualified in at least
half of the seasons races will be disqualified and banned from the pool. If
that participant wants to rejoin they will be under probation for one whole
season and must not be disqualified more than 5 races or they will be banned
for life. Getting DSQ for not submitting a victory speech does not count.
· If a participant fails to submit a
victory speech at least 1 hour before the next race they will be disqualified
from that next race.
· You will have 3 days to protest an error
in your stats after an update. If you notice anything wrong after the 3 day
limitation you cannot do anything. This will not only promote participation and
liability but also lesson the work for the administration.
· Suspicion of obvious copying will not be
allowed. If you copy someone's picks once it will be looked at but not frowned
upon the first time. If you are suspected twice of copying you will be
questioned by management and possibly penalized a total of -20 points at the
end of the race.
· If you finish the race with 5 of your
drivers receiving 0 points and the other 5 combining for a total of 25 or less
points you will receive 0 points for the entire race and it will be marked as
if it were a car failure (Retirement). 6 0’s or more is an automatic
retirement.
· You must submit your picks at least 1
hour before race time. However if the qualification ends and the race starts
less then an hour after qualification then please submit your picks ASAP before
race begins.
· If you fail to email me with your new predicitions for each race you will be DSQ and receive 0
pts.
· It is also your responsibility to make
sure that I have posted the correct selections for you. Once you get a reply
from me stating that I have received your picks you should visit the site and
check them. If the race ends and you notice a mistake it will be too late.
· If you submit the same driver twice in
your top 10 only the higher position will count and the second will be given 0
points.
· If you would like to use the same picks
as the previous week or the same order as the qualifying you must still
formally send an email with those picks. Just sending a message saying
"please use the same picks as last week" or "use the same as the
qualifying results" is not enough active participation. Therefore if you
do not at least submit the same formal list as outlined by the rules and
format, you will be DSQ for that race.
-
Test
Driver (Away) Rule
·
Participants
who want to submit their predictions for future GP’s
before upcoming GP is complete because they will be away for certain
reasons may do so. (For example: Participant submits predictions for Malaysia
GP2, China GP3, Bahrain GP4 before Australia GP1 is finished)
·
The
time stamp for each of these races will be labeled as
‘Test Driver’
·
Under
‘Test Driver’ the participant will lose any tie breakers they may
encounter with others. If two or more participants are tied at ‘Test
Driver’ they will split the Championship points if any are gained.
·
If
a participant is able to update their selections before race day that Time
Stamp will be used and ‘Test Driver’ will be taken away.
·
For
every GP the participant is marked as ‘Test Driver’ they will lose
up to 3 Championship points (no minus points).
·
If
the participant wins a GP during this period and fails to submit their victory
speech because they are away the rule of DSQ for next race still remains.
Race Scoring
Before every race all participants will choose who they believe will finish in
the top 10 in order.
You can score anywhere from 0 to 100 points in one race. 10
pts for dead on predictions.
-
Example
· If you choose a driver to finish 3rd
and he finishes 3rd then you receive 10 points. (Dead on prediction. 10-0=10)
· If you choose a driver to finish 4th
and he finishes 8th you only receive 6 points. (4 places off prediction.
10-4=6)
· If you choose a driver to finish 10th
and he finishes 2nd you only receive 2 points. (8 places off prediction.
10-8=2)
· If you choose a driver to finish in the top
10 and he does not finish in the top 10 or gets DSQ or RET then you receive 0
pts.
-
At the end of the race points will be totaled for
each participant and you will receive:
1st - 25pts
2nd - 18pts
3rd - 15pts
4th - 12pts
5th - 10pts
6th - 8pts
7th - 6pts
8th - 4pts
9th - 2pts
10th - 1pt
(Same point system as Formula 1)
-
For example

-
Joe's Predicitions:
1 Heikki Kovalainen
(1 place off prediction. 10-1=9pts)
2 Michael Schumacher (1 place off prediction. 10-1=9pts)
3 Rubens Barrichello (Dead on prediction.
10-0=10pts)
4 Bruno Senna (Not among top 10. 0 pts)
5 Robert Kubica (4 places off prediction.
10-4=6pts)
6 Mark Webber (2 places off prediction. 10-2=8pts)
7 Jenson Button (3 places off prediction. 10-3=7pts)
8 Juan Manuel Fangio (Not driving that
season. 0pts)
9 Lwis Homiltan
(1 place off prediction + typing error (-1). 10-1-1=8pts)
10 Jaime Alguersuari (5 places off prediction. 10-5=5pts)
-
Joe gets a total of 62 pts for his predictions. If that is the most between all
participants then he would finish 1st and receive 25pts for the race.
-
Half Points
Like
the F1, half points will be awarded because of the race being cut short. For
example only 32 of the scheduled 56 laps complete before a torrential downpour
turns the track into a lake.
Championship
Points Half
Grand Prix
Points remain the same
Drivers & Constructors Championship
Not only will there be a Drivers Champion but there will also be a Constructors
Title.
So you can take home two gold’s if you're the best
driver and if you and your team-mate are on the best team.
-
Team points will be accumulated by the captains
all-season points from races 1-10.
The team will get the points from the partner on the team on races 1-10.
From races 11-19 the team will get the points from the new partner in races
11-19.
-
When
participants are DSQ’d and leave teams with
single drivers rules are:
·
Captains
stay with their team and any other single driver joins this team.
·
Team
with most points receives 2 drivers.
Constructors Championship
Team mate selections will be based on results from the previous season.
The following is a team formation example with 19 participants and
rookies\newcomers.
Rookies are drivers who never competed in the pool before. Newcomers are
drivers who have competed before but skipped a year or more then returned.
Participants
who are returning after being DSQ from previous season will not be paired up
with another veteran on a team. Instead they will be paired up with a DSQ,
newcomer or rookie participant, in that order.
Before the
beginning of the season if participants don’t reply with their team name
and\or notice of participation when asked they will be moved to the end of the
line. 5 to 10 days is the usual length of time given.
This will dispose of lazy participants as well.
The top 10
drivers in the standings will be teamed up as:
1st & 10th
2nd & 9th
3rd & 8th
4th & 7th
5th & 6th
-
Reasoning for this is to reward the elite drivers for finishing in the top 10
by giving them a legitimate team mate, making them a Captain and letting them
get to choose a team name first. Also note that if you are in the top 10 but
have more than 2 disqualifications you are not considered a reliable team-mate
and will be excluded from the top 10. Next highest positioned driver with least
amount of disqualifications will take your place.
It is not fair to pair up the 1st place champion with a last place driver or an
unreliable driver who gets disqualified often.
-
The remaining drivers in the standings will be teamed up as:
11th & 18th
12th & 17th
13th & 16th
14th & 15th
19th & Newcomer
Rookie & Rookie
-
Reasoning for this is that it is not fair to reward a last place driver by
teaming them up with the Champion. Also Rookies and Newcomers should have to
prove themselves. They should start from the bottom and work their way up, not
be paired up with a good participant right off the bat.
-
Notes:
· The only Captains are 1st, 2nd, 3rd,
4th, 5th place drivers and get to pick their team name in that order.
· Drivers who placed 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th
get to pick their team name in that order but are not considered captains.
· If a rookie or newcomer enters they
will be paired up with whoever is alone on a team, if no one is alone then they
will pick from one of the remaining team names.
· If the total amount of participants is
an uneven number, the last place driver of the previous season will be left
alone on a team. This reduces the possibility to seek for a "wanted"
team-mate.
· Drivers who finished last in the previous
season with an uneven number of drivers are alone on a team but are not
captains of that team. Rookies and newcomers cannot be captains either.
· If a rookie does well in the first half
of the season a captain can pick him to his team after 10 races. However the
rookie is still considered a rookie all season long.
· When a driver quits or gets disqualified
from the season they will be replaced by any driver who is racing alone on a
team.
· The replacement driver continues with
his personal point total but does not carry over his team points to his new
team.
-
Trading Team-mates
Being able to trade team-mates midway through the season is interesting and
could make things more exciting. We all know that drivers sometimes switch team’s midway through the season or really at
anytime.
-
After the first 10 races of the season the Captains have a say if they want to
keep their current team-mate or trade them for someone else. You cannot pick
another Captain. Captains remain captain for the entire season. Captains are
captains because they did well in the previous season by finishing in the top
half of the standings. So they get rewarded by staying captain of their chosen
team all season. At the end of the Season captains will be reassessed according
to the Final Standings.
-
For example:
Current Teams:
C=Captain
Ferrari – C Silvio, Alan
McLaren – C Jimmy, Visajaani
BAR – C Antero, Vincent
Sauber – C Paul, Jussi
-
10 races into the season the standings are as follows..
1. Alan
2. C Antero
3. Vincent
4. Visajaani
5. C Silvio
6. C Jimmy
7. Jussi
8. C Paul
9. Fabio
-
Alan, Vincent, Visajaani, Jussi
and Fabio would be available for a new team-mate
-
Antero gets first pick on these 5 drivers
Silvio 2nd pick
Jimmy 3rd pick
Paul 4th pick
-
Of course you could be loyal and stick with your team-mate from the start. But
this is what makes things interesting.
-
At the start of the new season new captains will be seated exactly how they
were this season.(from previous final standings)
For example:
Final Standings
1. Paul
2. Antero
3. Fabio
4. Visajaani
5. Vincent
6. Jimmy
7. Jussi
8. Silvio
9. Alan
-
New captains are Paul who would be paired up with Silvio
Antero would be paired up with Jussi
Fabio would be paired up with Jimmy
Visajaani who would be paired up with Vincent
-
All captains get to pick their new team name BMW Sauber,
Ferrari, Force India, HRT, Lotus, McLaren, Mercedes GP, Red Bull, Renault, Toro
Rosso, Virgin & Williams.

-
Note:
If A and B tie, then we add up the championship points
for those specific positions. For example if they tie for first place we add 25
points for first and 18 points for second which is a total of 43 points. Then
we divide that total with the number of tying participants, A and B are two. So
in this example both participants would receive 21,5
points each for tying for first place.
